August-September House Church
The
Session has called for a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Wednesday, August
29 on behalf of Cheryl Cook and her family. For those of you new to the
fellowship, Cheryl is one of the founding members of Old Orchard Church and has
been our accompanist for more years than I can remember. She was recently
diagnosed with ALS or “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” as it is sometimes called. The
Session believes we should be interceding in a special way on behalf of Cheryl,
her husband, Bruce, and their two boys, Justin and Jesse.
The day will end with a combined
August-September House Church with a light supper afterwards. —Ron
Lutjens

Church Library—the Hunt for Missing Books!
Yes, the church library is being re-established! But we need your help! Do you have any OOC library books at your home? If the answer is “yes” please return them to the box marked “return books” in the new home for the library at Milligan House—no questions asked! Its new home is in the room behind the living room on the first floor.
Second way you can help: Please do not move or take any books off the shelves, as we are not ready to open! We’ll let you know when you can check items out.
Thank you!
—Jan Rau and Gail Barker, OOC church librarians—

Can you solve the mystery of the Missing Vase??
A small pottery vase, about
6 to 7 inches high with medium purple glaze color and a small bit of green
around the lip. Last seen containing stargazer lilies on Sunday morning, July
29 on the communion table. The flowers were taken out of the vase and given
away, but the vase itself has disappeared. If anyone has any idea what happened
it the vase, please contact Ruth Killen, 314.962.8755 or Ron Lutjens—or just
leave it on the windowsill in Ron’s office at church. Thanks so much for your
help.
The clipart here is the
general shape of the vase—wider at the bottom, with a small lip at the top.
