Welcome to Old Orchard Church!
We welcome you to our
worship. If you would like to find out more about Old Orchard & what we are
about, please fill out one of our visitor forms. Also, we invite you to use our
child care services for infants through children in kindergarten,
located in the church building’s basement.

Sunday School News
uMark in March
All
are invited to a 4-week class offered by Hans Bayer, Associate Professor of New
Testament at Covenant Seminary. It will meet at the Milligan House
starting at 9:00 a.m. Hans will focus on Mark 8:22-9:9, as follows:
March 4: Mark 8:22-26 (with
connection to Mark 7-8) “The
Hard Heart of the Disciples”
March 11: Mark 8:27-31. “The Humility and Suffering of Christ
and its Impact on the Disciples”
March 18: Mark
8:32-38. “The Cost of Discipleship”
March 25: Mark 9:1-9.
“The Glory of Christ and its
Impact on the Disciples”
This is
an invitation to the new members’ class beginning at 9:00 am sharp on Sunday,
March 4—next Sunday! Come to the
Milligan House and join us. This class is both for those who already know they
want to make a commitment to Old Orchard Church by becoming formal members and
for those who just want to find out more about what makes us tick. Call me if

Story Is Born!
Story Cole was born on Thursday, February 22 at 2:07 pm! She
weighs 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and is 20 inches long. Parents: Jay & Jen Simmons. For those who are new
to OOC, Jay is the organizing pastor for the South City Church—our daughter
church.
Children’s Ministries
Nursery is offered for infants & children through
Kindergarten age. Our nurseries are in the church building’s basement!

Infants &
Toddlers Nursery for infants — 35
months begins at 10 a.m.
·
Preschool nursery: Begins at
10:00 a.m. for 3 & 4 year olds and 10:50 a.m. for 5 through K. Children
ages 3 and 4 can be in the nursery at the beginning of worship, and then the
older children (5 through K) remain with their parents until 10:50 a.m.
·
Parents: please pick
up your children from the nurseries immediately after worship.
Children’s
Worship. Children grades 1-5
are dismissed at 10:50 a.m.
OOC Talent Show on Sunday, March 4!
Acts Wanted! Last day to sign up to do an act in our next OOC
Talent Show next Sunday evening, March 4, 6 p.m.See Hannah Nelson to
sign up your act.
Audience Wanted! Plan to come!! And bring FOOD to share for our
refreshments afterwards—your choice!—cheese & crackers, cookies, etc.
Our Emcee is Jim
Lowe! Michelle & Gretta Kraft will team up and host our refreshments (with
your food!).
Overture
The deadline for the
next Overture (our newsletter) is today for the next issue published
next Sunday.
Heather Sparkman has asked for a break from serving as an editor until May.

Children’s Art Show
Children through
high school are invited to contribute their art for showing starting on Sunday,
March 11. Kids, or parents, see Cayce Zavaglia if you want to display your
art.
Men’s Bible Study
The Men’s Bible Study, led
for years by Seth Dyrness, will reconvene, starting on Saturday, March 3 at
7:15
a.m., under the leadership of Hal Pendergrass. Men, if you have questions, see
Hal. Otherwise, just show up on the third at Milligan House!
Leaders Meeting Rescheduled!
Tuesday, March 13, 7 p.m. at
Milligan House. Ministry Coordinators, Prayer Group Leaders, Elders &
Deacons, plan to be there!
Photos
Our Welcoming Ministry photo
team will be taking photos again this Sunday. See Annie Kuhn (N-Z) or Gretta
Kraft (A-M) in the vestibule. We hope to get photos on a bulletin board and
into a directory for your use.
OOC Directory
It’s that time again—to
update our OOC Directory. Please check your listing on one of the clipboards in
the parlor area. If you are new, please fill out a form. See Durinda if you
have questions.
Katrina Rebuilding Team
Work in Biloxi continues in
rebuilding efforts after Katrina. In a recent report by FEMA over 100,000
families are still living in their trailers. We want to see if we can pull
together a team together either in March or April to help with efforts there.
We hope to have more information and dates next week.
Meals for the Cook Family
As part of Old Orchard’s
mercy ministry efforts, we are looking for people to provide meals for the Cook
family. Dorothy Woodson will be organizing these meals. We ask that you e-mail
Dorothy at hdwoodson@fastmail.fm if you want to take a turn. If you do not have
e-mail, you can call Dorothy and express your interest.

We
are looking for homes for our Good Friday meals. The menu is simple: Soup & Bread. Good Friday is April 6. We
will worship after the meals on Good Friday at Old Orchard with our brothers
and sisters in Christ from Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church. If you are
interested in hosting or want more information before deciding, please contact
Durinda in the church office.
Arts Ministry
Artists in the congregation,
please join us this Tuesday, February 27, 7 p.m. to meet together. See Ron
Lutjens if you have questions.
House Church
We will not have House
Church on Wednesday, March 4, but will have it on March 28 at the church
building for a special concern given by two Hungarian believers and for a
picture report from Rob and Tunde Futo. More information to follow.

Free Concert Offered at Sister Church
On March 10th, at
7 pm, Grace Presbyterian Church of St. Charles will be hosting an album
re-release concert with guitarist Emmett Taylor and band. This concert will
feature several Covenant Seminary students who came together early in 1972 to
produce one of the first albums of contemporary Christian rock to be released.
The concert will feature songs from their original album, now digitized and
available on iTunes and other major music download sites. Admission is free and
open to the public.
