Welcome to Old Orchard Church!

We welcome you to our worship, and thank you for your patience while we renovate our old building. We invite you to use our child care services to infants through children in kindergarten, located at Milligan House. Please see nursery details on the back page. Also, visit our Sunday School, offered for all ages (9 a.m. on Sunday mornings—see schedule below). If you would like to find out more about Old Orchard and what we are about, please fill out one of our visitor forms (currently in the foyer).

 

 

Sunday Schedule

Sunday School Schedule

No Sunday School for the next two Sundays. This is due to the next week’s church-wide retreat, and the Memorial Day holiday weekend on the 28th. Intergenerational Sunday School is coming up during the month of June. No Sunday School during the month of July.

 

Overture Deadline

Today, May 14, is the deadline for the next Overture. (our newsletter). Heather Sparkman is Editor. All submissions need to be signed. Please place your articles in the
Overture mail slot (in the foyer).

 

Leaders Meeting—Yes, another one!

The Session has called for a Leaders’ Meeting for Tuesday, May 30 at 7:00 p.m. Ministry Coordinators and prayer group leaders, mark your calendar.

 

Parlor Fellowship

Please join us for a parlor fellowship after worship on Sunday, June 4. Mark Tucker and Michelle Kraft are hosting. We’ll be honoring our high school graduates:  Jesse Cook and Toby Lowe. Sign up on the clipboards to bring food.

 

 

OOC Work Day

You’re Invited!

Katherine and I want to extend an invitation to all of you, our Old Orchard Church family, to witness the vows our daughter, Susannah, will make to her fiancé, Perry Newman, and his to her, at their wedding on Saturday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace and Peace Fellowship, 5574 Delmar, St. Louis, MO 63112 (1/2 mile east of Delmar and Skinker). Don
Bailey, former OOC pastor, will be preaching and marrying them.

You’re invited to a cake, fruit, and punch reception in the fellowship hall here right after the ceremony.

Today’s Parlor Fellowship

All invited to join us after worship at Milligan House for fellowship and food. We are saying “farewell” to Chad and Deb Anderson and to Ben and Dawn Robertson as each couple prepares to leave St. Louis for ministry positions. Chad and Deb are moving by the end of May to Kearney, Nebraska to become a Director of Youth and Family Ministry at Trinity Presbyterian in Kearney,
Nebraska and Ben and Dawn will move in June to Williamsburg, Virginia to serve with Reformed University Fellowship at William and Mary College.

We also want to congratulate each of our college and seminary graduates. See list of graduates on the back of this sheet.

 

 

Lawn Mowers Wanted

It’s time again!! Please sign up to mow the lawns of our two buildings and also Willie Lee’s lawn (Willie is disabled & his home is located in the Webster/Rock Hill area). We especially need more volunteers for Willie’s lawn over the next few weeks. See Jerry Taussig if you have any questions.

 

 

Old Orchard Church’s Summer Children’s Program

(Kindergarten through 6th grade)

When:  August 1-5, 9:00 am — 12:00 pm

Our Nursery

Nursery is offered for infants & children through Kindergarten age.

Infants nursery for infants — 35 months begins at 10
a.m. This nursery is presently on the first floor of Milligan House.

Preschool nursery:  Begins at 10:00 a.m. for 3 & 4 year olds and 10:45 a.m. for 5 through K. Pre-school Nursery:  children ages 3 and 4 can be in the nursery at the beginning of worship, and then the older children (5 through K) remain with their parents until 10:45 a.m. when children will be dismissed. Nursery is located on the second floor of Milligan House.

Parents:  please pick up your children from both the infant and preschool nurseries immediately after worship.

OOC Hurricane Disaster Relief Team??

We are exploring the possibility of sending a team to the Gulf Coast to assist in clean-up and/or repair. What we need to know is if you are interested in participating in a short-term trip either this summer or possibly early fall. We may work through Samaritan’s Purse or with a specific church. Let Kelli McKie know if you are interested.

 

Covenant Seminary Honors 2006 Graduates and

Celebrates 50 Years of God's Grace

The ceremonies will take place in two parts:

Baccalaureate:  Thursday, May 18, 7:30 p.m. Rayburn Chapel at Covenant Seminary & Commencement:  Friday, May 19, 7:30 p.m., First Evangelical Free Church, 1375 Carman Road, Manchester, MO 63021. Reception follows.  Please note: Due to limited space, childcare will be available during graduation events for the children of graduates only. In addition, the Seminary is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year with a special Jubilee Chapel Service on May 19 at noon. —Covenant Seminary

Invitation to “Karoga Bonga”

South City Church (your daughter church!) invites you all to “Karoga Bonga” (Swahili for “stir food as it cooks as you talk to each other”). Invite your friends to this bi-weekly pot-luck picnic in Tower Grove Park (at the “tunica site” in the southwest quadrant of the park). It will be on Thursday evenings all summer starting at 5:30 p.m., and it will be a wonderful time to fellowship and eat and play games, etc.! Just bring a side dish or desert as hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided. These are the dates:  May 25, June 8, 22, July 6, 20, August 3, 17, 31.
