Sunday
Schedule:
No Sunday School during August
10:15 a.m. Worship
6:00 p.m. South City Church worship
2336
Tennessee Avenue, 63104
Welcome Visitors!
We invite you to fill out
one of the visitor forms from the thin books in the pews to help us get to know
you. Please place it in the offering plate. Thanks!
Please also note... Part of our gladness on the Lord’s Day is visiting
with each other! But before the service please greet each other outside or in
the parlor so that the sanctuary can remain quiet for those who want to
meditate on the Lord.
Today’s Parlor Fellowship
Please join us today after
worship for our Parlor Fellowship. Our hostesses are Jan Rau and Sylvia
Mitchell.
Please take the opportunity
to say “goodbye” to Matt & Michelle Novenson and Aaron Bond as
this is their last Sunday with us. The Novensons are leaving to pursue graduate
studies at Princeton. Aaron, our summer Youth and Family Intern, returns to
Covenant College. (If you want to contribute to an honorarium for Aaron, please
put it in the offering plate or Mark Tucker’s mailbox. Designate it for Aaron
Bond.)
Wish our college students
well as they return to colleges, especially Clara Lee, Peter Branson and
Chris Lowe.
Also, congratulate Donna
Knobbe on receiving her Master of Education in Counseling.
Durinda Hood will be on
vacation August 15-26 so you won’t find her in the church office during that
time. If you need to get into the church building and don’t have a key, call
Mark Tucker at the Milligan House (314.961.6932) to make arrangements.

Overture Deadline & New Editor
Wanted!
Today is the deadline for
the next Overture. Please place
your articles in the Overture mail slot in the hallway.
Susan O’Neal is editor for the week.
We
still need a new editor to take turns with 3 other people to put
together our newsletter, the Overture. The new editor will start in
September (taking a turn approximately once every 2 months). Requirements: computer with Microsoft Word (or conversion
to Word). You would also make the copies on the church's copy machine (Durinda
will run your copies if the Overture is ready by Friday before
publishing.) See Durinda Hood (314.962.3795) for more details when she returns
from vacation in 2 weeks. Or talk to any of the current editors (Susan O’Neal,
Jon Easterling, Heather Sparkman) for more about what this service involves.
Grace & Peace’s food
pantry is running out of food every week. They need canned fruit, vegetables,
and soup, plus toilet paper. Remember to bring individual sized containers
as many recipients are on foot. Thank you! *Look on the back of this sheet for
Grace & Peace’s “This Week at the Food Pantry” report.

This
week at the Grace & Peace Food Pantry...
We had a lively discussion
of good and evil in the Bible Study. Recently our elder and associate pastor,
Michael Gordon, expressed an interest in more lively discussion in the Bible
study. There we were in an intense discussion of Luke 22. Jesus loves Judas
when Jesus asks, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a
kiss?" What does it mean to be made in God's image and to struggle with
sin?
Thank you for your recent
donations to the food pantry. This week we totally ran out of the following.
