Welcome Visitors!

We invite you to fill out one of the visitor forms from the thin books in the pews to help us get to know you. Please place it in the offering plate. Thanks!

Please also note... Part of our gladness on the Lord’s Day is visiting with each other! But before the service please greet each other outside or in the parlor so that the sanctuary can remain quiet for those who want to meditate on the Lord.

Home Hosts Wanted for

Good Friday Meals.

Friday, March 25, 2005

We are looking for hosts for the Good Friday Meals that are held in homes from 6 to 7 p.m. the evening of Good Friday, March 25. Hosts provide the food (hearty soup and bread) and place. Usually the host does not lead the meal. Instructions will be given to the hosts. Below is a description of the meals.

We will again join with Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church (921 Edgar Road) for a joint worship service at their building at 7:30 p.m. (Also, a children’s meal will be offered for younger children (under 12) at Old Orchard Church.) Therefore, homes with easy access to getting to Cornerstone’s building are desired, but homes further away are fine, too, if getting to the 7:30 p.m. worship service is possible.

A sign-up sheet for hosts is posted or you can give Durinda a call at the church office. We need all the hosts by Wednesday, March 2 so a sign-up for attending one of the meals can begin on Sunday, March 6 at the latest.

Reciting Meal: During these meals we read the highlights of the story of our redemption in Christ. A Bible goes around the table, verses assigned for each person to read. As we hear of the movement back and forth throughout history—from Genesis onward—between God’s grace and our sin, a center candle is alternately lit and extinguished.

Sharing Meal:  During these meals we focus on certain passages of Scripture, or songs, or meditations on the suffering of the Lord and then there is some time for focused, individual sharing on how the work of Christ has affected our own lives personally.

OOC Directory Update

If you are new and want to be listed in the OOC Directory, please fill out a Directory form today (the forms are posted on the bulletin board in the parlor.) Also, if you have a correction you have not submitted, please see Durinda Hood or call the church office on Monday, February 14. We plan to publish the directory this week.
